2 days 42 Miles

After resting up 1/2 a day in Warner Springs Travis and I were the first ones to blast off in the morning for The 42 mile trek to Paradise Cafe on Hwy 74.

Mikes place a water stop along the way had an interesting vibe. We stopped in,
To say thank you for the water, discovered they had beer, and of course had to stay for a beer. I found the chips & salsa and couldn't stop. It just tasted sooo good. After an hour or 2 of rest, a beer and too many chips we hiked on.  3 miles or so up the ridge we found a few small campsites. We decided to Cowboy camp it.
Cowboy camping is when you sleep out under the stars with no tent. This night was a little crazy becuse the winds got super strong thru the night. I couldn't sleep so, why not hike? I started out at 4:50 with my little head lamp to light the way. It worked and I got a few more miles under my belt.

Later in the morning Travis had caught up to me at a spring our only water source for many miles. We came across this guy sunning on the trail. Just after taking some fun photos out on a big cliff.
Cacti flowers are amazing! And always looking out for snakes!
Not sure what kind this one was, but I gave it a wide berth to do its thing. Paradise cafe our destination finally
arrived. On the Sign was a note to all PCT hikers telling us to call and the would pick us up. Saving the big road hike or hitch. Minutes later a suburban
Showed up and we were swept back into society.
After 22 miles of sand dust wind desert heat we finally arrived at Paradise cafe. We emptyed our chocolate shakes in seconds. All we could think about in the heat was ... " do you think they have chocolate shakes"? They were fantastic.
While eating our burgers our conversation was about hitching a ride to idyllwild our next destination. 2 women over heard our conversation and offered us a ride. Once in idyllwild. It was straight to the $3 per night camp ground with showers! A wonderful end to the day.
